Team Hustle Athletics

Founded by Dave Brown more than a decade ago, Team Hustle NYC grew from a deeply personal mission. After learning he was expecting a daughter, Dave recognized the need for a youth sports program created exclusively for girls — one where they could learn, compete, build confidence, and grow together over time.

Brick by brick, Team Hustle has developed into a supportive basketball community led by Coach Zay Rodriguez, Jaye Kayne, and a team of coaches who care about children first and share a genuine love for the game. The program has also benefited from the leadership of Abby O'Connor, a former Gonzaga and Loyola Chicago standout who brought an exceptional playing background to her work with young athletes.

Team Hustle offers travel teams, a recreational league, private and small-group training, holiday camps, and summer camps. Players are thoughtfully placed in competitive environments that match their experience, allowing beginners to learn without losing confidence while challenging advanced athletes to continue developing.

Basketball is only part of our mission. Speed, agility, and fitness training with NASM-certified personal trainers helps girls build strength, athleticism, and healthy habits that support basketball, other sports, and everyday life.

Above all, Team Hustle provides a safe, positive environment where girls can become skilled players, confident competitors, great teammates, and strong young women.

Team Hustle Cheer & Dance, founded by Ayah Harfouch, began as a passion project dedicated to creating an empowering athletics community for girls. Together with program leaders Erin Harrison and Marie Bratic, Ayah has built a supportive environment where young athletes can develop their skills, express themselves, and form meaningful connections.

Erin, a former captain of the Columbia University cheerleading team, brings extensive cheer experience and a passion for working with young athletes. Marie, a professional dancer, brings her performance background and love of dance to the program. They are supported by a talented coaching team that includes current and graduate-level collegiate cheerleaders, professional dancers, and instructors with backgrounds in early childhood development. The program also hosts special events featuring guests from professional sports organizations and dance companies that have performed on and off Broadway.

Team Hustle offers cheer programming for children in Pre-K through eighth grade. Athletes learn the fundamentals of sideline and competitive cheer, including chants, sharp motions, jumps, beginner stunts, basic tumbling, teamwork, and leadership. Competitive cheer squads participate in tournaments and perform at Fastbreak Family of Brands basketball, football, and community events.

Our growing dance program introduces second- through fifth-grade students to styles including jazz and hip-hop, encouraging creativity, coordination, confidence, and self-expression. Across cheer and dance, Team Hustle offers classes, holiday camps, private training, seasonal recitals, and special events where families can celebrate their children's progress.

Above all, Team Hustle Cheer & Dance strives to create a positive, nonjudgmental environment where girls feel safe, connected, and empowered. Through athletics, performance, and thoughtfully curated social experiences, we help them understand what it means to become great teammates, even better friends, confident performers, and strong young women.
