Upper East Side Basketball
Upper East Side youth basketball from a child's first dribble to competitive play — instructional classes, private and small-group training, recreational travel teams, camps, and the Upper East Side Jr. Knicks 4v4 League.
About

Fastbreak Sports was founded in 2006 by Lonnie Levine, a father of two who struggled to find a challenging, well-coached basketball program for his eight-year-old son, J.D. Drawing on his own experience playing the game, Lonnie created the kind of program he believed New York City families deserved — one built on proper instruction, strong fundamentals, and coaches who genuinely care about children.
In 2020, Fastbreak Basketball joined the Fastbreak Family of Brands through its merger with Basketball Stars of New York (BSNY) and founder David Brown. This partnership brought together two established youth basketball organizations with a shared commitment to exceptional coaching, player development, and positive experiences for children.
Today, Fastbreak Basketball is led by Coaches Ray Allen and Shakeem Wilson and serves players from kindergarten through eighth grade. From the first time a child picks up a basketball to competitive play, Fastbreak offers programs for beginners, intermediate players, and advanced athletes.
Fastbreak offers instructional classes, private lessons, small-group training, recreational travel teams, holiday camps, and summer camps. It is also known throughout New York City for its Upper East Side Jr. Knicks 4v4 Basketball League, where players compete in Fastbreak jerseys and receive awards named in honor of New York Knicks championship players.
Our approach extends beyond dribbling, passing, and shooting the right way. Players also learn proper spacing, movement, positioning, decision-making, teamwork, and how to read the game. Our recreational travel teams give developing athletes opportunities to compete while learning to become great teammates, supportive friends, and confident members of a team.
Coaches Ray and Shakeem lead a talented staff, many of whom have played at the collegiate level and all of whom share a passion for basketball and working with children. Every coach is trained by Fastbreak's leadership team to provide a safe, energetic, and supportive environment while challenging players to work hard, stay accountable, and improve.
Above all, Fastbreak Basketball celebrates each child's progress. By sharing their knowledge and genuine love of the game, our coaches help young athletes develop skills, build confidence, and fall in love with basketball.
